A surfer, rodeo cowboy, aspiring actor, and a go-go dancer who worked at some of WeHo’s most iconic gay bars, including Mickey’s Rage, and Fubar, it made sense that Kalani Handeley was the player on Boystown: West Hollywood 2006. It was quite a ride for a young man who had grown up in a very conservative house steeped in Hawaiian culture, moving to the mainland, first living in San Francisco then Los Angeles.
But since then, he’s settled down and moved back to Honolulu. He studied Product Design and Merchandising at the University of Hawaii, got a job at Waikiki Health, and is engaged to his partner of five years, Don Farmer. The two of them also helped to found the Gay Men’s Chorus of Honolulu which recently held their first concert at the historic Hawaii Theater.
