A successful commercial actor for the last 20 years, Chris Villa-Woods was the older, wiser “father figure” of the 2006 Boystown: West Hollywood. But that knowledge didn’t come easy.
Growing up in the Latino community of Miami, Florida, Chris was bullied as a kid, and had to discover his place in a machismo-driven culture. His buff body helped him in his community, and in his careers as an actor and personal trainer.
But his good life was nearly stopped dead by a diagnosis of HIV+ in the mid-1980s. Given the panic around AIDS back then, he kept his status to himself. A survivor, he now wants to be a positive influence, and has become a spokesman and activist for HIV education, with a message that you can live a normal life and accomplish anything while having the disease.
Chris has since relocate to Palm Springs, California.
